Rosa Chavez was lucky to have been born in a family of artists, making it easier for her to develop her painting talent. The walks she took around her Californian neighborhood inspired her into painting, with the aim of capturing such beauty in art. Chavez covers several subjects in her paintings including homes, plantations, and landscapes that represent common scenes in California. Her parents supported her through her childhood all the way to her college studies at Bellas Artes Art School in Mexico City. Chavez’s 5-year study at the art school allowed her to explore different mediums, including pastels, oils, acrylics, sculpture, and watercolors. In 1981, she earned her Art Degree and proceeded to Bellas Artes Art School in Barcelona, Spain, to continue with her studies. In Barcelona she specialized in oil painting, although the whole experience also widened her artistic spectrum. The training inspired her to confine herself to the medium and explore it professionally. Chavez enjoyed then enjoyed painting Mediterranean views for a period of 6 months after which she, together with her husband, moved to America. They are currently settled in San Fernando, California, where they both continue to paint. The two own a gallery called The Emerald Art Gallery, opened in 1996 and selling art to both individuals and corporate collectors. Framed Rosa Chavez art pieces are sold in licensed galleries for art lovers who would like to buy art that’s ready to mount. Her art represents real life places that anyone can relate to, but are presented using a unique style.
