Jason Cardenas is a non-objective abstractionist whose approach to creating art fully embraces earth tones. He's inspired by the outcomes of rust, oxidization of copper and fossilized stone and wood. Cardenas is still an artist who’s open to new ideas and growth and has lately developed a good grip of bolder colors. Besides his use of bolder colors, he also finds inspiration from contemporary architecture, particularly the geometric shapes they possess. At an early age, Cardenas’ main focus was landscapes, although he mainly took it as an experimental process. He however grew to have an improved portrayal of texture and serenity of nature. Cardenas delivers his art using the most fitting color mixes, different brushstrokes and pallet knives. He slowly transitioned to still life, working smartly to capture the effects of light and darks in his subjects and how they work together to deliver through the attraction of opposites.
Cardenas is self taught. He continues to explore more to refine his abstract style. He first works on different textures and forms, applying diverse colors on his canvas in a process that slowly provides a better design of forms. Cardenas’ paintings are a process through which he learns new ideas and interacts with his subjects so that he gets a better understanding of their forms and texture. He’s known for his many artwork pieces that have been exhibited in diverse galleries and collected by high profile collectors.
