Ed Capeau is an artist, a Brockton native who has many murals planned for downtown, and is the one who worked on a grand mural downtown of Arnold Schwarzenegger. This West Bridgewater artist is self-taught. He started his own freelance business as a faux artist in 1999 after he spent several years working for paint companies. Ed Capeau said he began painting as a child. In fact, at the age of seven, he sold his first pieces of art. He graduated from Southeastern Regional Vocational Technical High School in 1990. After graduation, he decided to be an artist because according to him, he “could not sit by a desk for any other profession. He grew up in Brockton on Winthrop Street and attended city schools. Edwin Capeau Sr., his father, works for the Brockton Water Department as a senior inspector of backflow. In Boston, he donated his labor and time to paint a huge underwater mural for a Children’s Hospital. Ed Capeau has been involved with t-shirt designs, church restorations, body painting, and pretty much anything artistic but his specialty is the iconic black-and-white portraits. He knew then that he wanted to be an artist right from his childhood; he used to draw, paint, and sculpt, constantly. He’s had a natural knack for art his whole life. Today, famed Ed Capeau art are sold in large numbers. Many collectors treat them as their most value assets. His biggest happiness is when he sees people purchase and enjoy his works of art.
