Serena Bowman Art

The two main things about Serena Bowman are that she’s an extremely shy woman and she’s been painting since she was five. Art has always been a major part of her life and due the quality of her work, she won a few awards here and there and has enjoyed some commercial success. She’s had had to supplement her art career with other jobs, just like many other artists do. But she says that though some of the jobs have been fabulous, they do not stir the same feelings as when she picks up a paintbrush. Her art tends to feature acrylics, with paintings up to 5' x 6' in size. She runs the gamut on style and subject matter. Some feature the landscapes of Europe while others feature modern impressionist pictures inspired by her travels. She’s enjoyed depicting towns such as Falmouth and Martha's Vineyard, with lots of small detailing and signs. It was with the signs that she found great enjoyment and started getting a little silly. Serena favors autumn tones, but every winter she paints one snow scene and every spring one huge floral painting. Framed Serena Bowman art can today be found in many outlets all over the world. It was taking her months, sometimes even more than a year, to finish one landscape, so she started doing 9"x12" watercolors in between to maintain her perspective. Serena’s watercolor style is a little different from most artists because she doesn’t pre-mix the colors. She creates all of the tints and hues by layering pure colors, using about five original colors to create all of the varieties.
