Beth Albert’s given name is Mary Beth. Her designs are created by putting together different styles and elements. She uses scanned objects, vintage graphics, digitally created images, and some original paintings of hers to make her designs. Beth prefers the folk art look which is repurposed, handmade, naïve and unique. She is always looking for the beauty in things that are discarded and forgotten and ones that are simple. That’s what describes her style. Her love of making things has always been part of her life. Making to do with old things and making things has always been Beth’s way of life.
She observed as a child that her mom and aunts were always painting old furniture and redecorating. They used to splash new color, new fabric, and new life to furniture. They used antiques in unique ways to create fresh looks. This is what inspired her. She was also inspired by her grandmother who was a school teacher and lived on a farm. The grandmother created sparkling beautiful home using simple old materials and lots of hard work. By observation, she learnt to make her surroundings pleasing and unique using things she could throw together. A love of old things was born in her. Beth developed a unique technique in pure painting. Her paintings are known for their contrast of texture. She mainly develops her paintings from direct observation. All her paintings display simplicity of application, a delicacy of touch, and a wonderful understanding of color. Those who collect ready to mount Beth Albert art often do so because of the quality of stillness and peace in her work.
