Framed Corset Artwork
The etymology of the word is not familiar to most people, but many suspect that corsets were first used in France for medical or aesthetic purposes. FramedArt.com focuses mostly on beautiful things, so it comes as no surprise that the framed corset prints that can be acquired here are inspired by fashion trends.
There are countless types of corsets today, but there were even more decades ago, so it possible set up a large, yet coherent collection.
Kimberly Poloson is one of the most prolific artists when it comes to framed corset prints and the most popular versions of the garment can be admired in her artwork. All these paintings have a vintage look and depict both the outfit sitting on a rack, or worn by a beautiful lady. These images are elegant and act as a window into the past, as they make it easy to imagine how women looked centuries ago. Back then, most of the corsets were custom made, which made them special as they could only fit a certain lady.
Nowadays, the term corset is frequently used in regard to most tops and this reflects in the framed corset prints up for sale. Most of them are elegant, but casual versions are not in short supply and the original term has lost some of its meaning. The paintings will serve as a silent reminder of what corsets used to be and classic paintings such as Edouard Manet’s Woman before a Mirror is the perfect example.
