Framed Shakespeare Posters

Framed Shakespeare Art focus not only on the famous poet, but also his heroes and over the course of time, hundreds of painters found it worthwhile to immortalize on-campus some of the iconic moments. Frank Dicksee is the author of one of the best painting depicting Romeo and Juliet side-by-side, but he also painted other famous characters playing central roles in Shakespeare’s plays. Other artists chose drawings as a way of expressing their appreciation for William’s enduring tales.

No other character has been celebrated in more Framed Shakespeare Art than Ophelia, with painters from the 16th century onward dedicating ample coverage to the heroine. Dicksee has one such painting, but Eugene Delacroix is the one responsible for crafting most of the masterpieces, such as Death of Ophelia. Collectors will find artwork belonging to Arthur Hughes and John William Waterhouse celebrating the same legendary woman, in various stances. Walter Crane has an entire collection of artwork titled Shakespeare’s Garden which has a dozen of his characters painted as plants or flowers.
