Western Wall Art
When most people are asked to describe the west the first thing that comes to mind is cowboys and Indians. Though they are both a very important and rich part of history that is not entirely all the west is about. Many artists have found ways through western art to portray America’s great journey into the West and the life they found there.
Including country scenes, desert landscapes and even adobe villages, Western art covers a wide variety of subject matter and styles. Intricate landscape paintings completed in a traditional style capture the most minute details of desert life. From tiny budding cacti to the sheen of a horse’s mane, each exquisite element comes together to make onlookers feel as though they’re riding alongside a cowboy. While many Western artists focus on the beauty of the nature around them, some concentrate on specific elements related to the wild, wild west.
Rodeos, cowboy boots and hats, blue jeans, horse bits and saddles, Native American pottery, Kokopelli silhouettes and even Indian moccasins are featured in Western wall art. While most western wall décor is completed in a traditional or country style, all tends to have a muted earth tone color scheme with a bright color accent. This pop of a red boot, blue night sky or green cactus adds some color to your room without overwhelming it.
If you’re looking to add a more rustic, casual feel to your space without breaking the bank and/or changing out everything in your room, Western art is a great way to do so. Cowboys riding bucking broncos or Native American dream catcher art can quickly and affordably add culture and style to your walls. Finish your western wall art with a thick rustic brown frame. Try a gold frame to pick up the color of hay bails and sand in your piece while also making your room more formal and glamorous.
