Framed Neoclassical Artwork
Neoclassical art is known as a very unemotional and severe type of art that goes back to the ancient Greek and Roman times of grandeur. Framed neoclassical art came as a reaction to overdone Rococo style and the emotional baroque styles.
Many of these paintings have withstood the test of time and have yet to disappoint art lovers.
Some of the best known artists of the neoclassical period were Jacques-Louis David, Frederic Leighton, Jean Beraud, John Reinh Weguelin, and Sir Edmond John Poynter. Thanks to these and many other terrific artists of this time there is a good selection of framed neoclassical paintings. They all had their own style and difference in subject matters their only common thread was the talent with which they created their works.
There is a tremendous amount of beauty to be found in this category of art and there are many framed neoclassical pieces that will look great in any room of a home or in an office. Some of the most popular paintings among critics and lovers of the type of art are; “Lesbia”, “The Music Lesson”, “Libra and Her Sparrow”, “Flaming June” and “Story Book”.
Even though this is considered an unemotional form of art there are some pieces that are controversial to that statement like; “The Death of Marat” by Frederic Leighton in 1793 and “Belisarius Begging for Alms” by Jacques-Louis David in 1781. This was a time of many portrait paintings of the upper crust with portraits of Gaspard Meyer, Madame Tallien, Pierre Seriziat, and Rose Adelaide Ducreux.
