Framed Turtle Prints
Turtles are a small reptile with a hard shell on its back, scales, and they famously walk very slowly. They can be very colourful, or very drab. They have traditionally been a symbol of support, longevity, and even as creator of the Earth in many cultures around the world.
They are in framed turtle art.
A framed turtle drawing which combines two symbols, owls and a turtle, is “Three Owls on a Turtle” by Nancy Lee. Owls traditionally represent wiseness in European culture, while the turtle is a strong pillar of the Earth in Chinese and Native American mythology. Symbolically the turtle is the world, including animals and humanity. It is also supporting the growth of intelligence, which is able to exist because it has a turtle to keep it on dry land. It is a surprisingly deep painting despite the simplicity of the flat style.
“Turtle Nestlings” by Paul Brent is a framed turtle watercolour painting which has some sea turtle hatchlings making their way to the ocean from the beach. Some of the baby turtles are still hatching from their shells. Symbolically they are the opposite of the first one: The hatchlings are new life, which must support itself before it can support other beings. The egg itself is a symbol of rebirth, and the next generation. This new generation of sea turtles will someday become the wise wanderers of the ocean, who have seen everything and have many stories to tell.
“Yoga Turtle II” by Anonymous is a humorous framed turtle caricature which is of a cartoon turtle looking contented doing a Tree pose in Yoga on a rock. Above its head is an Arabic letter; its meaning is unknown to non-Arabic speakers. The turtle is an adult based on its body, while its face looks like a happy old man's. This drawing represents joy in old age.
