Framed Horse Racing Artwork
Most people are probably familiar with the famous Kentucky horserace that happens every year. The grandstands are packed with fans. People are making bets on their favourite horses.
It is a big, big event that is captured on canvas in framed horse racing art.
A satirical take on horse racing is in the framed horse racing painting “Longshot” by Anonymous. The horse is very long, while the player is very short. The phrase “longshot” is perhaps making fun of the betters who want to bet on the slow horses. Although it is very detailed, it is still cartoonish because of the satire.
“Sea Biscuit” by Unknown is a piece of framed racehorse sketchbook that shows the famous racehorse from several angles. It is more like a character sketch sheet than a painting. The largest picture is of his head and neck. The top smaller picture shows him running, while the bottom picture is of Sea Biscuit in a race. It is a wonderful way to remember this famous racehorse.
An old historical framed horse racing painting from Europe is “The Return from the Race” by Carle Vernet. It is a detailed painting in black-and-white. There are two Greek or Roman gods in a chariot, which is being pulled by two horses. It is almost photographic in nature; the chariot feels “heavy”, like real metal, the man's cape is being blown in the wind, and the viewer can feel the urgency in the gods' faces.
