Framed White House Art
The White House serves as both workplace and official residence of the incumbent President of United States, with John Adams being its first resident. It was James Hoban who designed and built the structure, who accommodated the aforesaid president in 1800, followed by Thomas Jefferson. The latter made several changes to the structure, by creating new colonnades and expanding the entire building, modifications that can now be observed in Framed White House Art up for sale at FramedArt.com.
Framed White House Art highlight the neoclassical style in which the Aquia Creek sandstone structure was built. After the mansion was partially destroyed by the British Army in 1814, the reconstruction process introduced new concepts and the building expanded with the South Portico and the North. Theodore Roosevelt and William Howard Taft also made significant changes to the structure of the White House, with the oval office being created during the mandate of the latter.
Framed White House Art is dedicated to both the northern and southern facade, but just as many images are highlighting the beauty of the gardens. Jefferson’s colonnades also appear in virtually all art prints, yet overall there are more photos dedicated to the interiors. There were further changes in the 40s, when Harry Truman had the rooms dismantled and replaced the wooden load-bearing in the walls with a steel frame. The modern structure sits proudly on the list of National Heritage Sites and it attracts most of the tourists visiting Washington DC each year.
