An iconic building of ancient Rome, the Pantheon was erected at the turn of the millennium and just as the name suggests it was dedicated to all gods. It was Emperor Augustus that ordered the building of the structure, but it is was not completed under his rule and only reached its current form under Emperor Hadrian. Back in the day, it was dedicated to the ancient Roman gods, but more recently it served as a church while being commonly referred to as the Santa Maria Rotonda.
