Framed Amalfi Wall Art
Steep mountainous terrain. Beaches of golden sand. Ancient Roman columns of white marble. Hanging plants. These characterize Amalfi, which is a famous vacation spot in Italy. Not only is it the subject of many photographs, it is also the subject of framed Amalfi art.
“View to the Amalfi Coast” by Carl Frederic Aagaard is a beautiful example of a framed Amalfi painting. It is taken from a tunnel-like view from between columns of a walkway. There are many columns, and from those columns hang many green ivy plants. They are shadowed, and appear to be cool compared to the warmer surrounding temperatures. The “tunnel” is along mountains, which are cold and grey, before fading to blue in the distance. The overall feeling is of relaxation.
“Positano, the Amalfi Coast” by Curt Walters, is a peaceful framed Amalfi artwork that presents a voyeuristic view of the coastline town. It is voyeuristic because the city is framed between the branches of a tree, like someone is spying on the city. The city itself is small, and built directly on the mountainside. Its white is a bright contrast to the greenery of the mountains.
“Amalfi, Travel Poster” is an historic view of Amalfi. Although its angled viewpoint is similar to “Positano,” the colours are saturated, yet filled with shadows, a style that harkens back to the 1950's. The coastline shows roads that have been built, but not yet development of buildings. In place of trees framing the city are roses, making the picture feel warm and inviting.
