Framed Opera Art

Initially confined to the relatively small court audiences, opera took off in the 17th century and it became one of the dominant art forms involving singers and musicians. The brilliant combination of dramatic text with music and action unfolding on the stage makes these shows impressive on many levels. A central part of Western classical music, opera is celebrated at FramedArt.com through Framed Opera Posters dedicated to the best compositions.
Framed Opera Posters highlight the richness of the costumes and the impressive setting, as the opera house is usually a luxurious venue. This classical music genre began in the 16th century in Italy and quickly expanded beyond borders, reaching its peak in the 18th century. Except for France, it was the dominant music in Europe and the greatest composers dedicated their time and energy to create comic and dramatic operas. Mozart was by far the most successful in this category, with his marriage of Figaro, Don Giovanni and the Magic Flute being all highlighted in artwork.

The popularity didn’t dwindle in the 19th century with the likes of Puccini and Strauss producing masterpieces in the first decade of the 20th century. Framed Opera Posters acknowledged the contribution of Italian composers, such as Verdi and their German counterparts, with Wagner being the most representative ones. Not only composers, but also famous singers, such as Enrico Caruso swept the audience off their feet with their beautiful voice that transcended the barriers of opera.
