John Silver (born 1959) is a self-taught artist who was in born in Macclesfield Cheshire, UK. He knew he wanted to be an artist by the age of five years. He is now an award winning artist who has travelled widely and has visited many museums, art shows and exhibitions. Most of his paintings are painted using very old technique that involves painting a monochromatic underpainting then glazing the colors over the top. Silver believes this technique is the best and the fastest to use with oils. But whenever he thinks the paintings call for a “spontaneous” style to convey a fleeting moment or immediacy, as in some of his street scenes, Silver uses the All Prima technique with oils.
Silver boasts as the only living artist to have an artwork hanging permanently in the Kennel Club in London, a very prestigious gallery, thus putting him forever in the books of history. He is a member of the Canine Art Guild and the Guild Erotic artists. He won the "Best artist award" in 2012 and was voted by the Fine Art Trade Guild as the "Best upcoming artist" in 1994. Silver has many self-published prints, and has more than 100 limited edition prints that have been published by the major publishers over the last 20 years.
