Pablo Picasso (25 October 1881 – 8 April 1973) was a renowned Spanish artist who covered many artistic disciplines including, painting, sculpting, poetry, and playwriting. He studied art in both Madrid and Barcelona, although by the time he began his studies he was already an admired painter with exceptional skills. Picasso’s love for art was evident at a very early age. He is widely regarded to be a co-founder of the Cubist art movement. In addition to Cubism, he’s also known for constructed sculpting and collage. Due to Picasso's innovativeness and the quality of his work, he became one of the most adored and influential 20th-century artists. He spent his adulthood in Paris, working with different artists, including Gertrude Stein. Born Pablo, Diego, José, Francisco de Paula, Juan Nepomuceno, Maria de Los Remedios, Cipriano de la Santisima Trinidad, Ruiz Picasso, his reputation as an inventor artist is evident in his legendary career transformation which led art experts to categorize his artistic life into different phases. The phases are Blue Period (1901–1904), the Rose Period (1904–1906), the African-influenced Period (1907–1909), Analytic Cubism (1909–1912), and Synthetic Cubism (1912–1919). One of Picasso’s best and most sought-after art pieces is Guernica, which is a representation of the scene at the German bombing of Guernica village in Spain, during Spanish Civil War. He’s one of the few artists of his days who became world celebrities and were paid well for their art.
