Mario Moreno faced a lot of challenges as a child but these did not deter him from achieving his dream of becoming an artist. In his childhood, he suffered an infection in his ears that let him deaf and mute. Now more than 50 years old, Moreno lives with his family in Springfield in an ample country house. The family has a big yard where he has set up a workshop. He spends most of his time painting portraits and landscapes and also carves wood. His favorite mediums are watercolor and oil paints and his favorite place to paint is a corner of his living room near a photograph of Paula, his mother. Another dream he hopes to fulfill one day soon is ending their long separation with his mother. His colorful portraits and landscapes transport his viewers into a world of modest symbolism and magical shapes that are reflections of the emotions of the artist himself. Scenes from his home country—nature in its most delicate but blunt form and authoritative religious images that reflect the most precious beliefs of the people in his homeland Mexico—submerge his audience in a flow of movement and compelling warmth. There is energy in his art, and there is melody, captured within a state of reflective silence. He joined the Mexican Social Security Institute where he experimented with oil paints and watercolors. Today framed Mario Moreno art are found in nearly all corners of the world. About 10 years ago, he decided to move to the US to seek opportunities as a visual artist.
