Self-taught artist Elena Ray lives in southern Arizona. In her art, she explores spiritual unfolding, energy work and psychological revelation. Her photography focuses on holistic arts and the people who practice them. She specializes in bespoke portraiture and has worked as an advertising photographer producing ad campaigns that are used internationally. Elena creates photo illustration, mixed medium art, and photography. The lens is the legendary eye with which she explores the mystical nature of Nature. The photographer plays with the gods by recognizing them in places, in ideas and in people. Her personal pieces of art have recently appeared in Pierian Springs, Ladyfire and Olam magazine. In her work she forms ideas of death and birth by taking the loamy substance of the human soul and by being continuously experienced through spiritual enlightenment. The landscape is her theatre and the aboriginal symbols of nature are her props. Her latest works involve prints collaged organically with mixed media then returned via a flatbed scanner to the machine and output as Ultrachrome prints. In post production, Elena finishes the images by refining or adding the effects on her Macintosh computer. She then prints with Ultrachrome inks on Japanese papers, watercolor papers, and an assorted variety of papers that are hand produced. She’s emerged as one of the best artist in Arizona and today, framed Elena Ray art are in great demand worldwide. In lighting, Elena uses a myriad of devices including mirrors, studio strobes, natural light and a hosemaster. Her original prints have been purchased by leading companies including AMFAC Corporation.
