Michelle Molinari is a taxidermy artist, printmaker and painter who graduated from Victorian College of the Arts. Her works basically focus on and encompass notions of observation, memorialization and death through the taxidermy genre. She incorporates multiple mediums within a single piece of work and explores the relationships that are created between the object and its image. By working with various mediums, the artist looks to shadow the divisions that characteristically exist between artistic disciplines. In 2012, she was awarded the Majlis Encouragement Award and the Fiona Myer Award. She has successfully exhibited in Flinders Lane Gallery’s annual exhibition of emerging artist Exploration 13. Michelle explores the relationships that exist or are created between the object and image by incorporating multiple mediums within a single piece of art. The knowledge and process of taxidermy is the foundation of the developmental process of her work. The process of creating the taxidermy enables her to acquire a kindhearted and inner understanding of the subject, and also helps her to reveal the human emotion of holding something away from death. In 2014, she held a highly successful first one-person exhibition with Flinders Lane Gallery and in the same year she was announced in the Eutick Still Life Award as a finalist. In 2014, she won the Graeme Hildebrant Foundation Travel Grant. This allowed her to reside in both Florence (Italy) and New York (USA). All these have lead to the popularity of framed Michelle Molinari art. She’s represented by Danita Delimont, a stock photo agency.
