Charles Sleicher knew from his childhood that he would become a professional artist and he channeled his efforts towards achieving this goal. At any moment he could be seen with art materials. He had no option but to follow what his heart dictated. Ever since he got a Brownie box camera at the age of 14, Sleicher has been interested in photography, and he had a darkroom as a teenager. During those years, Sleicher used to spend summers in the Adirondack Mountains of New York. Here, he developed a keen interest in natural history. The photographer celebrates life by living in a constant state of creativity. He imagines the future with hope and his images are celebrations and reflections. Sleicher e thinks of them as stories he tells. He thinks of them as stories that were told to him. Sleicher feels his photographs express a state-of-being and a range of emotions. He served in the Navy for some years, got a Doctorate of Philosophy from the University of Michigan, worked in the oil industry for 4 years, and on an NSF post-doctoral fellowship, went to Cambridge, England. After all these he joined the University of Washington as Professor Emeritus of Chemical Engineering in 1906. He retired in 1991 after serving for twelve years as Chair of the Department. There is a broad variety of finishing options of his images, including framed Charles Sleicher art, to satisfy the varying needs of clients. He’s represented by Danita Delimont, a photo stock agency and today, his art stand out in crowd because they give life to his subjects.
