Framed Reptile Artwork
Snakes and crocodiles have struck fear in the hearts of people since immemorial times, but they were also revered as gods in some cultures.
FramedArt.com celebrates these reptiles and many of their close relatives, in framed reptile prints that feature them in the wild, but also in imaginary situations.
The earliest reptiles lived more than 300 million years ago and over the course of time they underwent significant transformations, with many species being now extinct.
Reptiles are highly versatile and have the uncanny ability of surviving in harsh environments while being equally good at adapting to radical changes. Snakes are known to inhabit all continents and even though they prefer hot temperatures, they can withstand lower ones. Frogs used to thrive as well and were celebrated in literature, religion and various cultures, but their populations are declining worldwide.
Not all the framed reptile posters are about snakes, with crocodiles and turtles being also the focal point of attention for photographers and painters. Crocodiles have always played a major role in mythology and art, with ancient Egyptians having tremendous respect for the creatures lurking into the waters of the Nile. Turtles receive ample coverage in the framed reptile prints and they were also celebrated in the past for their endurance and perseverance. The subject of fables and stories, turtles are also popular pets as they don’t require a great deal of attention and in turn don’t cause any problems to their owners.
