Framed Eclipse Art
Humanity is an inquisitive beast. There is no surprise therefore that framed eclipse wall art is an ever-popular topic with those interested in space and time. Whether this inspires reminiscent memories of an epic sci-fi movie or the wonder of space exploration, there is no doubt that people enjoy seeing aspects of the universe, near and far, in art.
Many people of the space race generation have stories to tell of the first man on the moon and the first space program they saw on television. In the twenty first century these stories are becoming more commonplace, with space exploration taking on even more challenging roles; images of Pluto, fragments of rock from Mars, holidays in space! This fantasy, which has become reality is shown in the beauty of framed eclipses artwork because even though we now understand the causes they are still beautiful and awe-inspiring sights.
Ever since the first shot of the Earth from the moon was taken in 1966 (by the unmanned Lunar Orbiter 1) the art world has yearned for more and more beautifully-timed photographs from space; the unique ability to display beauty that most will never get the chance to see first-hand. It is this desire to see the unobtainable that has thrust framed eclipse art well into the world of the art connoisseur. One of the most famous shots is the Blue Marble photo, taken by the Apollo 17 crew in 1972. This was the first photograph to show the Earth in full, and its beauty as well as its vastness has made it an enduring image.
The almost-romantic world of science fiction also contributes to the presence of framed eclipse art and framed space art in collectors’ galleries. Authors such as Frank Herbert have made images such as Philip Hart’s Solar Eclipse with Diamond Ring Effect burst through and cement a place in our imagination due to their popularity in modern culture.
