Framed New Zealand Art emphasizes the natural beauty of the island, with its majestic mountain ranges, rolling hills and beautiful beaches. The country was chosen by many Hollywood directors as the best place for shooting movies, so film buffs have a good chance to recognize some of the images from popular scenes. The Southern Alps are towering high above the New Zealand landscape, with many of the peaks being created as a result of tectonic uplift or volcanic eruptions.

Framed New Zealand Art also celebrates the rich culture of indigenous people, with Polynesians inhabiting this island for almost 100 years. The first European explorers only arrived here in 1642 and two centuries later, the island became a British Crown colony. While most of its inhabitants are nowadays descendents of Europeans, the large indigenous Maori minority brilliantly succeeded at preserving its traditions. They are kept alive and made popular all over the world, with the best-known being the haka dance enacted by the national rugby team.
