Framed Williams Prints

American feminist painter, Sue Williams (Born in 1954) was born in Redruth, Cornwall. She studied at Cardiff College of Art in the 1970s, and in from 1985 to 1987 did her MA in Fine Art at Cardiff Institute of Higher Education. Sue has been a member of the 56 Group Wales since 1988, and has been a member visual arts board of the Arts Council in Wales since 1996. Throughout her work, she finds that the investigation of drawing is an immediate and easily resourced medium with which she can produce images. Thus mark making and drawing are of the utmost importance in her work. She’s allowed body language, human emotions and sign interpreted through action to increase in potency the image of the figure as a subject. Sue is looking at ideas concerning two figures in the canvas’ arena. She looks at figures as an event in space and time which are able to bring about a sensation of memory thereby allowing imagination to function. Sue says she’s a woman making work that’s self-reflective, this naturally leads to her art to be categorized as 'feminine' art, though she has not tried to define her art in that manner. She habitually combines themes of the body and gender politics into her work and has emerged as a leading visual artist working and living in Wales today. Her tenacity has made her to win a string of commissions and has made framed Sue Williams art to be very popular throughout the world.
