Tava Studios was opened in 1987 by Janet Brignola-Tava and her husband Eugene Tava. They opened the studio so that it might give them the opportunity to further perfect their skills in fine and decorative arts as they pursue diverse projects. Both Janet and her husband are currently affiliated with Galaxy of Graphics for licensing of their mural and print work. The couple is nothing if not versatile and always continues to seek unique projects. Their latest project was the total restoration and redecoration of a Funeral Parlor of the 19th Century. Janet began her illustrious art career after graduating from the School of Visual Arts with a degree in painting and after some further study at Parsons School of Design and the Fashion Institute of Technology. Her first professional position was with Karl Mann Studio, a prestigious establishment where she ran the Orientalia painting department for more than 10 years, creating works for such clients as the Saudi Arabian and South African Embassies and the Plaza Hotel’s Roscoe Award-winning Executive Suites. She also learned and perfected decorative painting techniques, and adapted ancient Chinese designs for modern use in award-winning and innovative hand-painted textiles, murals and wallpapers. Janet was recently honored to design and work on the murals for the Children's Chapel at Marble Collegiate Church. This is truly a career highlight because it is the only formal Children's Chapel in the US and the only chapel designed and executed by a woman artist. Today, framed Tava Studios art adorn the walls of many homes and institutions all over the world.
