Deb Strain, her three children, Taylor, Arrin, and Katie, and her husband Scott, live in a small wooded area at the edge of Gettysburg, Ohio. They lovingly built their Saltbox home, which is the namesake of their Folk Art Stationery line that they began in early 1995. Art is her passion, but her real-life love is her family. Her two daughters are both artists, and her husband and son are their biggest supporters. The family is very fortunate to share such a wonderfully bonding interest. Deb and her daughters feel continually blessed by the family's closeness and being able to follow their dreams to create art and share it with others. Deb’s art can be found world-wide on a number of products from greeting cards to figurines to fabric.
Deb became an art teacher and taught art for nine years. She however left teaching in 1994 to devote her life to the development of her own art and her family. It is in the peaceful woods surrounding their home where she finds her inspiration. She also draws inspiration from the times spent with family and friends, and the memories of growing up in Ohio and from dolls created by Anne McKinney, an artist in her own right. She seeks to convey a kind of a gentle way of life. Many of her images have a folk art flavor to them; they increasingly lean toward the primitive. She has grown to love the friendliness and warmth of Americana, old quilts, and gardens. Framed Deb Strain art can be found with many art collectors, both private and public.
