Jim Stone is a member of many professional art organizations. He has held numerous group and solo exhibitions with much success, and in these exhibitions his art has been the center of attraction. His art are great for both inspirational and decorative purposes and that’s why collectors stock framed Jim Stone art in large numbers. Stone is an artist who thrives on sheer enthusiasm and productivity for his exhilarating art. The artist celebrates life by living in a constant state of creativity. He’s an expert at transforming a subject into something that is purely poetic, spiritual and beautiful. He studied engineering at MIT, and it was during his days at the institution that he turned to photography. His art speaks for itself; bold and exciting, mysterious and elegant. Stone was the editor of Newsletter for Photographic Education by Polaroid. Stone taught formerly at Boston College and the Rhode Island School of Design. He has received awards from The New England Foundation for the Arts, the Massachusetts Arts Council, the National Endowment for the Arts and The San Francisco Foundation. He has been an artist for many years and he admits it has been challenging, yet very insightful. His art has been published and exhibited nationally and internationally, and is collected by Boston’s Museum of Fine Arts, the Museum of Modern Art, the Los Angeles County Museum of Art, and the Smithsonian American Art Museum, among many others. There have been 3 books by artists published of his photographs, Historiostomy, Stranger Than Fiction, and Why My Pictures are Good.
