Karl Soderlund was a founding member of The Fairfield Gallery Association in Connecticut. He works primarily in oil, and focuses on the sea and the beautiful landscape that grows around it. His wife is also an artist and they live together with their two young children near the Connecticut shore which he considers to be a spring of inspiration. The artist must have had an inherent sense of composition and color from childhood. This is because he began painting at an early age. Soderlund was inspired by the everyday images in his surrounding and these made growing up in Connecticut and New York memorable to him. His numerous accomplishments are evident; framed Karl Soderlund art can be found hanging in more than 250 private and public collections, including PepsiCo, Merrill Lynch, Interpublic Companies, and the Heisman Trophy portrait collection. Soderlund focuses on conveying the history of his subjects and the texture of nature. Soderlund creates oil paintings with an intention to provide a soothing place for the mind to rest and focus, an element that’s visual and breaks through the two-dimensional plane of the canvas. His paintings have been shown in the finest galleries, as well as featured in newspapers, magazines and on television. In 2010 he had his first one man exhibit in NYC at the National Arts Club. Soderlund also teaches art at "The Studio" in Fairfield. He finds meticulous beauty in all things including that which is beaten and weathered. Over the years, Soderlund has received several awards for his outstanding works.
