Deborah Schenck’s work has been widely exhibited over the past several years, including group and solo exhibitions at the Photographic Gallery and the Broome Street Gallery in New York when she lived in Vermont for fifteen years and several local exhibitions during the year she spent in France. She studied photography in Staffordshire. After finishing her studies, she apprenticed with the BBC in Manchester as a film editor. She believes the greatest influence in her life was her great-uncle George, followed by her journey around the world for a year and from which she learnt a lot. Her uncle gave her a camera when she started college. With this camera she has won several awards for her work. Sandy beaches and narrow lanes now provide much of the inspiration behind her art since she returned to her roots in Devon; her latest artwork has developed from her love of the craggy coast line where she now lives with her two teenage children by the sea. Today the artist continues to develop her unique style as she experiments with different media. Much of her work centers on various licensing projects. Since 1991, Deborah has been an image transfer artist using a technique called OPolaroid Transfers' which involves repositioning of a photographic image on a watercolor paper and then enhancing it by hand-painting with watercolors. Recently she has begun doing transfers on wood and plaster. Many of her works are finished as framed Deborah Schenck art because she has realized that this is the most popular option.
