German-born artist Ursula Salemink-Roos is very passionate about the creative process. She’s a former member of Pemberton Studios in North Vancouver. She now works out of her own studio in Burnaby where she challenges herself to upgrade her techniques as well as to achieve new levels of perception. Ursula has produced many pieces of artwork for many renowned corporations, as well as for private commissions. She has participated in many group and solo exhibitions and her art can be found in many private and public collections throughout the world. She’s had solo shows at Centennial Theatre, North Vancouver; Gallery at Sixty Dallas, Victoria; Place des Arts, Coquitlam; Bel Art Gallery, North Vancouver; and Law Courts Inn, Vancouver. An International artist, her work can be seen in Singapore, Spain, Channel Islands, Germany, the USA, and Canada. Her works have intuitive color combinations that display rich texture reflecting her experience as a weaver. Ursula pieces of art are bold abstract landscapes that reflect her curiosity. She however leaves the interpretation to her viewers. She aims to achieve a sense of simplicity and strength and works in series, with some works currently ongoing. Light, color, form and texture, are all carefully joined to convey a sense of space and atmosphere in her final product. Ursula’s art evokes beauty in a way that touches something basic and elemental in the lives of her viewers. She produces art that and she says she wants to continue to explore all the potential that painting has as a medium to express her love for life.
