Sonja Quintero is first and foremost an artist, and he has always been since his childhood. He used to draw cartoon characters as a child and they were very attractive. As he reached his teens, he embarked on designing logos, and when he came of age he studied interior design. Quintero tried his hands on photography in 2005 and since then, he has never looked back. He fell in love with photography instantly when he picked up his first camera, a Nikon SLR. He also developed a passion for film and the darkroom. He says that there’s something mysterious about the way an image is created as it swims in the developer. He says that he finds the darkroom as the only place where he can truly lose himself. He decided to buy his first digital SLR in 2007, which was also Nikon, and he has since developed skills in digital post processing. Though he admits it's not as amazing as the darkroom, he says that digital post processing is not without its convenience...and charm. Most of his work is digital nowadays, but once in a while he can still be found making magic in the darkroom. Quintero says that it is our everyday world that has him fascinated. He can see beauty in the most ordinary of things that many people easily ignore. He adds that art surrounds us everywhere. It is so much more than the framed Sonja Quintero art that people hang on their walls. He finds a sense of whimsy in every image he shoots and hopes his viewers feel the same.
