Born to a painter and a sculptor, Danhui Nai developed love of art at a tender age. She was born and brought up in mainland China where she followed evening art classes after coming from school. Still driven by her passion for art, she proceeded to study interior design at Wu Xi Light Industry College. Done with her college studies Danhui moved to the U.S. where she lived in New York City, working as a textile designer while also following her studies at the Fashion Institute of Technology during night hours. Her works are created using a layering technique for application of color and she also uses a variety of media, including tempera, watercolors, oils, and gouache. Danhui creates a variety of art works, prints, and posters that are mainly inspired by her garden outside her San Francisco Bay area studio. It's in that same garden where she creates most of her creative works.
