Born in Glasgow, Scotland Michael Miller is an artist who was trained academic drawing at the Liceo Artistico Leon Battista Alberti and also in oil painting with the Laborarte Group. Miller has studied at Pennsylvania, Leicester and the universities of Edinburgh and the school of social sciences in Paris. Miller also holds a doctorate in civilization and history from the European University Institute in Florence. In 2006, Miller moved to Mozambique and lived in Maputo, where he got attracted to and was heavily influenced by the works of local artists, traditional designs and by the religious objects and art of Sub-Saharan Africa. Miller has exhibited at several places including but not limited to Riverside Park, New York, Brooklyn Oenology (BOE), Inwood Hill Park, New York, The Candy Factory, 124 Washington Avenue, Van Brunt Street, Red Hook, Brooklyn, New York, TRA Gallery, 35 Claver Place, Brooklyn, Willoughby Walk, Brooklyn, New York, and Phyllis Harriman Mason Gallery. He’s known all over the world for his quality work because he paints for an inner need and not for fame or glory and utilizes several mediums of paint in each composition in order for him to achieve desired results. Framed Michael Miller art are particularly liked by many discerning collectors, and they place a high price tag on them. Miller has gained notable recognition as a professional artist. His art is in many private and corporate collections and galleries across the globe. Since he moved to New York, he has become more involved in public art projects that are community-based.
