Marion McConaghie has created quite a number of photo montage pieces. She uses mixed media to produces her digital collage work. More recently, the artist has gone back to her roots, using pencil, charcoal and paints. She’s a contemporary artist who creates intriguing and beautiful imagery of insects, butterflies and animals. She loves using patterns, and tends to use many old wallpapers and traditional designs; they remind her of growing up in the 1970's and the out of the ordinary wallpapers that could be gotten back then. The artist is inspired by the several years she has spent browsing through car boots sales, antique shops, and so on, absorbing the designs, patterns and imagery of classic curiosities. Marion loves combining these old places with a contemporary feel. In her limited edition prints, she often explores pattern and natural history with a traditional twist, but without losing a contemporary and fresh feel. With her years of working in graphic design, she feels she fuses together that experience with fine art to produce high quality works that she’s known for. She studied Fine Art Painting at Brighton University. Her education led on to working as a graphic designer for web and print in order to earn a living.
