Laura Marshall (1873 - 1933) was born in Lansing, Michigan and she died in San Francisco, California. She was active in California, Michigan until her death. Her love of art began in her childhood and she could produce very beautiful pieces of art to the amazement of those who were around her. She was therefore encouraged by many to consider pursuing art as a full time career which she did. She did not only become a painter but she also became an art teacher. To improve her art she joined Detroit Museum School to study art. She also studied at the Boston Museum School and at Columbia University. Laura proceeded to UC Berkeley to further her studies. After her graduation from UC Berkeley, she was employed in the same institution to teach art. She worked here for close to 30 years. She also taught in many public schools in Fresno. Her work attracted many people including distinguished patrons since he had better-quality and stylish skills. Laura loved what she was doing and her works were and are still able to speak for themselves. The artist never feared to try different techniques and styles when working on a particular project. She always wanted the best for her clients. She was a member of Pacific AA and California Art Teachers Association. Framed Laura Marshall art continue to cause a lot of excitement among collectors to date. She exhibited her art at California State Fair, UC Berkeley Museum, and Oakland Art Gallery, among others.
