Don Li-Leger (Born 1948) was born and raised in British Columbia, Canada. His passion for painting became evident while he was still a young boy. Li-Leger spent much of his time painting animals, birds and all the nature he saw around him. His imagination became enhanced by seeing lots of things and living in a place of rich culture. In 1971, Li-Leger traveled abroad to several destinations before finally settling down to pursue formal education. His first school was Vancouver School of Art, then Banff Centre School of Fine Art and finally Simon Fraser University where he majored in Plant Ecology.
Soon after school, he delved deep into painting, building for himself a name as a realist artist. In the 1990s, Li-Leger honed his painting skills, leaning towards psychedelic acrylic artworks that captured abstract forms and elements of nature, calligraphy, collage and geometric shapes. He traveled to the Orient and visited several wildlife sanctuaries, getting to master his subject matter into greater depth.
Li-Leger creates his works from Crescent Heights Studio alongside his wife, Cora, who is also an artist. The studio is part of their home where they have two young children. His works of art have been displayed in several North American exhibitions and beyond. Petley-Jones Gallery in Vancouver, British Columbia also displays many of Li-Leger’s creative pieces. His reproduction of the beauties of nature is primarily captured in acrylic, switching between realism and abstract. Besides drawing much inspiration from the environment, Li-Leger has profoundly been influenced by Mark Rothko, Piet Mondrian and Wassily Kandinsky. Several art galleries and dealerships stock framed Don Li-Leger art ready for mounting and also provide her art in other finishing options.
