Born in Miami Beach, Florida, Shelley Lake (Born 1954) holds a BFA degree an has been an artist for many years. Her mission is to create attractive, imaginative, intelligent and inventive pieces of art to promote and enhance pleasure and business activities in the dynamic world we inhabit. Her experimentation with technology and art began more than 4 decades years ago and she’s now experienced enough to know what her clients need. She brings to life the emotions of her subjects on canvas by combining the contract of oversized color blocks with her ability to capture detail through her brush strokes. Shelley studied computer science at Brown University under the guidance direction of Andy van Dam, a computer expert. Shelley says that the camera is the most complicated art form of our time and the computer is the most sophisticated machinery to date, and when the two are combined, can produce images of insuperable quality. Shelley proceeded to the Massachusetts Institute of Technology from where she received a Master of Science degree in 1979. Shelley also studied at Cleveland Chiropractic College from where she received a Doctor of Chiropractic degree. At the Massachusetts Institute of Technology, she trained with Aldo Tambellini, Harold Edgerton, Nicholas Negroponte, Otto Piene, and Muriel Cooper, who were pioneers in the fusion of technology, art and science. She continues to creatively produce images regularly, and they sell in large numbers, especially the framed Shelley Lake art. She produces eye-catching art that many viewers feel compelled to stand and have a second look.
