Jerry LoFaro is an artist who is well known for his illustrations of book covers. His art can be seen on the book covers of leading publishers including Harcourt, Bantam, Ballentine, Random House, Time Life, Avon, and Viking Penguin. Initially, he thought of careers like ice cream man, baseball player, zoologist and paleontologist but later on his interest shifted to animals, dinosaurs, art history, fantasy, and literature, and this turned into a successful career as an illustrator. In 1995, LoFaro left New York City and now lives with his wife Kathleen and son Gregory in Henniker, New Hampshire. From 1980 to 1981, LoFaro was at S.U.N.Y., New Paltz for his formal art education. He also attended the Art Students League of New York where he got valuable lessons in figure drawing conducted by Gustav Rehberger. He is an award-winning artist who has received numerous awards including The Grand Master Award from Ballistic Publishing, a Bronze Medal from The Society of Illustrators of L.A., The Vargas Award for lifetime achievement in illustration, The Excellence Award, a Gold Medal from The Society of Illustrators of NY, New Hampshire Artist of the Year Award, and many others. He began teaching Advanced Digital Art In 2010, at the New Hampshire Institute of Art, and enjoys speaking at schools, and hosting field trips at his studio.
