In his Fine Arts images, Howie Garber, tries to exhibit photos that transport the viewer to another world. His art has been widely published as book and magazine covers; and in greeting cards and calendars. For more than 30 years, he has worked as an Emergency Physician at hospitals, both small and large, all over Alaska and Western United States. He has found out that there are many similarities between being a physician and being an artist. Every day is often full of surprises as an outdoor photographer and as a physician. And his success depends on many factors - planning, weather, luck and animal behavior. He says that in the field and in the hospital, he must accept that there are many factors that are out of his control. Since 1972, Garber has lived in Salt Lake City. His interest in photography began in 1969 while attending a “History of Photography” class at the University of Rochester. Garber remained an amateur for several years. His first trip outside North America came when he was 39 years old. That is when he traveled to Nepal where he shot 40 rolls of film. After developing the films he realized that he had a calling to be a photographer. Since then, photography took a center stage in his life. He became a professional nature and fine art photographer. Today, framed Howie Garber art is highly priced by many discerning collectors who value them because of their high demand. Garber has traveled and photographed on seven continents n different places including Bhutan, China, Peru, Patagonia, Brazil, Antarctica, England, Kenya, Australia, Alaska and Switzerland.
