Artist Sharon Gordon was born in Upstate New York. Her current work is intended to capture and take the viewer into a section of a larger landscape that may seem ambiguous but familiar. She has participated in a number of art shows in galleries throughout Washington, D.C., New York, the East Coast and Philadelphia. Her aqueous landscapes have emotional intensity that captures the viewer and transports them into small passages of time and space using segments of a large view. She feels a deep connection to mystery, land and the water as well as assurance of the horizon. Sharon draws inspiration indirectly from some of the masters of landscape painting such as Emilio Sánchez Perrier and J. M. W. Turner, the Hudson River School artists. However, her landscapes are packed with a sense of harmonious tension and an emotional power that is uniquely her own vision. Using the paint to create motion and rhythm, she exaggerates portions of the landscape and focuses on details that are often missed or overlooked by many artists. Her paintings, which are basically oil on canvas, move the observer rhythmically from painting to painting, especially when viewed as a whole, and each one enhances the next. Her intention is that the viewer should become as captivated by the paint as she is with the painting process. When her art is viewed in an introspective and intimate setting, the light from within each piece suggests an imminent change in atmosphere. All the framed Sharon Gordon art have something unique about them that makes them easily recognizable.
