Framed Godoy Prints

Alberto Godoy (Born 1960) was born in Cuba. He’s one of the most exciting and promising Latino artists in Houston. His artwork reflects the exotic and bold images of his Caribbean homeland of Cuba. The large pieces of Godoy are rich in vibrant color and technically brilliant and rich in textures. At the age of 20 years, he fled the oppression of his native country and went to the United States. He carried to the U.S. the vivid memories of his homeland Cuba, which are all reflected in his colorful, bold, exotic, and warm-hued images. Godoy says that his paintings channel the melody of day-to-day life and culture in Cuba life, and portray a close affinity with his subjects. Embracing these ordinary yet lyrical themes, the artist relays the beauty of them using his unique style. The use of exaggerated volume projects his interpretation of post-modern primitivism, his signature style. His work has been shown nationally, regionally and internationally, including in his native Cuba, and he’s had multiple shows in the U.S. as well. His art is availed in a variety of finishing options including ready to hang framed Alberto Godoy art. At the heart of his work is one basic philosophy: Godoy believes that perfection is found in the spherical nature of the universe. He has participated in several group and solo exhibitions at Albert Gallery, Ervab Art Gallery, Winter Street Art Center, Spirit of Eco and El Taller Gallery in Austin, TX, Southwestern Art Gallery, Coral Gables, FL, Blosson Street Gallery & Sculpture Park in Houston, TX, and Houston Hispanic Chamber of Commerce.
