Rusty Frentner (Born 1958) is an artist who is based in Michigan. He moved to the country when he was about 3 years old. He grew up surrounded by an apple orchard, old farm lands, and a wilderness. His family had ducks and horses to keep them entertained. He started drawing as soon as he could hold a pencil. As a child, Frentner would ride his horse through meadows and still woods, observing the natural world with a lot of curiosity. He wanted to be a cowboy when he grew up and his earliest drawings were of horses. He got a lot of art supplies for birthdays and Christmas that kept him working on improving his drawing skills. When he got into high school, Frentner started drawing all the pretty girls! From his studies with wildlife artists such as Kalon Baughan and Lee Cable, Frentner has been able to achieve notable success by refining his talents. In his early years, the out-of-doors sparked a keen interest in wildlife. Framed Rusty Frentner art have found their way into many art galleries and museums. To this day he loves nothing more then being in the wild tracking and looking for wildlife. Nature is his greatest inspiration and he commits to “keeping it Wild! He works mainly in acrylics. He likes to try all media, so he has used graphite pencil, color pencil, watercolors, casein, oils, etc. and lately he has joined a Plein Air painting and he’s having fun painting out-doors. Frentner is learning new ways to work with color to make his work more exciting. He’s still doing his detail work back in the studio as well.
