Hal Frenck (April 29, 1930 - November 29, 2014) was born in Syracuse, NY. Frenck graduated from Eastwood High School, and then joined Syracuse University from where he received his Bachelor of Fine Arts. Frenck was a commercial artist. He started his art career as an art director for several advertising agencies, B.B.D.O. in New York City, and two in Syracuse; Flack Advertising and Fellows Advertising. Frenck then continued his career as an illustrator for studios in Bala Cynwyd, PA, White Plains, NY, and Rochester, NY before becoming a painting instructor at the Famous Artists School in Westport, CT. He then decided to become a portrait and landscape painter and a free-lance illustrator. He was predeceased by his sister, Carolyn Frenck of Cherry Hill, NY; his parents, and his daughter, Leslie Anne Frenck of Milford, CT. After a successful career as an illustrator, Frenck devoted his life exclusively to oil painting. He was a member of the Portrait Society of America and also an accomplished portrait and figure painter and. His paintings have been shown in the Southport Art Center, Westport Art Center, and Picture This Gallery in Westport. His style was unique in both portraiture and landscape.
