Mike Calascibetta grew up in the California beach scene and the Hollywood movie industry in the 1960s. He’s a life long watercolor artist who was born in Chicago, but moved to Burbank, California at a young age. Over the last ten years he has developed a unique technique of blending digitally painted photographs and original watercolors. Today, in an attempt to capture the color and light of traditional watercolors, he continues to expand his explorations of mixed media. His work is unique because he’s primarily self-taught. He’s therefore free to pick what he believes will make the final product appealing to his client. He’s also free to learn new techniques and styles and is therefore a regular visitor of museums and galleries. Calascibetta has exhibited and painted on and off for the better part of his life. However, in 2007 he began a full time career as a painter. Today he paints with digital photographs using traditional wet watercolors. The final product of this procedure is quite attractive and has made his work to be very popular with collectors; more so the framed Mike Calascibetta art. Calascibetta uses a human approach to his art and goes into the intricate details of his subjects. His art continues to fascinate many collectors, because they are design-oriented with stunning colors and style, and without any simple artistic restraints. This has made his art to be very attractive. He’s very keen to detail and will pick simple things that are often ignored by many artists.
