Richard Berenholtz hails from Colombia. He graduated in 1974 from Columbia University with a master’s degree in architecture after which he worked as a designer with I.M.Pei. During the course of his work, he used to take photographs as a hobby. Soon this passion led him to love photography. He has so far held 3 solo shows in New York galleries. He has turned out to be a professional photographer who specializes in cityscapes, landscapes and architecture. In 1984, he left architecture to pursue a full-time career as a commercial photographer. He started producing his art in black-and-white, but today he produces in color, and uses a panoramic camera to capture stunningly wide views of New York, the city he loves so much. Since he started working as a photographer, the artist has had six books published: Manhattan Architecture, was published in 5 languages and sold over 50,000 copies; Inside New York, was published in paper back as well as hard cover; Panoramic New York, is now in fourth printing; New York New York, is the largest book ever done on the city and has sold more than 100,000 copies, it has also been published in Italian and French; New York Architecture; and New York Deco, which was originally published in 2005, and was released in a revised deluxe edition in 2008. In 2006, his photographs were chosen to represent New York City in the International Architectural Exhibition at the Venice Biennale. Framed Richard Berenholtz art are in great demand and are highly priced by many collectors.
