Jan Bell Art

Jan Bell is an ardent adventurer, and trek throughout the United States in search of subjects. This time in the wilderness provides him with the opportunity to connect with the land and compose his images. His work draws on methodology of traditional photography, mixed with modern digital techniques to achieve prints that look more or less like silver gelatin prints. While he derives a majority of the images from remote areas, there are others that he photographs in busy urban settings. Whether in rural or urban setting, both provide the makings of an image that have a remarkably similar feel. Some of his images are availed to clients as framed Jan Bell art. Since early childhood he has been inspired by the natural world. Bell grew up in northwestern Ohio on a farm in the flatlands. This instilled in him an appreciation for the land. His inborn passion for the arts has continued into his adult life and has translated as the work people see today. His art is in several private and corporate collections including: Weinhardt & Logan Law Offices, University of Michigan, The Electric Quilt, James Marr, Kopps Frozen Custard, Toledo Museum of Art, Howard Bond, American Frame, Westin Hotels, University of Toledo, Health Care REIT, and Argo Hytos. Whether it's a man-made structure, a plant, or a landscape, each of his photos represents an opportunity to consider the subject in terms of the beauty of its form - almost apart from the function or meaning of that subject.
