Natasha Barnes (Born 1969) creates art that reflects her African background, having been born in South Africa. However, she also captures a lot of other subjects inspired by her worldwide travels. Natasha started painting at the age of 7 and has continued to date. She has an inborn talent that has, together with her passion, triggered an urge to continue creating art, something that has seen her grow artistically and develop a touch of expressionism in her artwork. She uses intense color and a depiction of movement to inject life into her art. Although she got no formal artistic training, she attended lessons in art when she was young. Instead of fine art training, she opted for Cordon Bleu cookery, later working as a respected cookery editor for a South African Magazine. Natasha’s experience in cooking inspired her to start up an own cookery school. Her involvement in the field saw her design cakes, floral arrangements, home interiors, and sugar craft. As she continued in the food industry, she continued painting as well. She also took her works for exhibition around South Africa. Because that’s where her passion was, Natasha made a decision to leave everything else and focus on painting full time.
Her paintings are mainly created using water based mediums, choosing to apply thick and often highly textured approach whenever necessary for the best results. Besides her style that's leaning towards impressionism, she also creates several abstract pieces. Natasha’s subjects are mainly African landscapes, flowers, cats, and abstracts. She has exhibited her art in different places and has several of them in the hands of public and private collectors. Natasha Barnes framed art prints are also available for those who prefer prints that are ready to hang on the wall.
