Paul Bailey lives in a rural setting, and the farming landscape which surrounds his home has been his primary source of inspiration over the past couple of years: low rolling hills; intermittent woodland; ancient hedgerows; patch-work fields and vast skies. His use of non-traditional techniques, the semi-abstract nature of his work, his dynamic use of color and his bold compositions help portray his seemingly prosaic landscapes in surprising, vivid and new ways. His art can be found within private galleries and collections throughout the world. He also supplies commissioned pieces to domestic and international private collectors interior and design companies. His art is stocked in the South East by Hastings, Cuckoo, and East Sussex, and is stocked in Essex by Barleylands, New Art Gallery and Nr Billericay. Bailey loves working on hot-pressed, smooth, gesso-primed paper. He says this provides an excellent ground with the added bonus of allowing him to create a surface structure that is a little different to the normal. A fine-grain imparts a pseudo-pastel feel to his finished painting. He also uses under painting because he says it’s a handy little tool. He finds that initial wash sets the tone and gives him the foundation for the works that follow. His finished work is always faultless as he usually strives to give his best. He prefers to use watercolor and is good at choosing his subject matter. He wants to make his art appealing to all those who view them. Many top collector stock and highly price the framed Paul Bailey art because they are in great demand.
