Framed Zeppelin Posters
A century ago, zeppelins were regarded as the pinnacle of technology and the future of air transportation, being widespread in Germany. The first models were constructed at the turn-of-the-century and quickly won people over due to their effectiveness and appealing design.
Framed zeppelin prints are up for sale at FramedArt.com and they include some of the early models, as well as the more recent aircraft.
The first commercial flight of a zeppelin took place in 1910 and it was operated by a German company, which also became the first airline in the world. Over the next couple of years, they carried thousands of people across the German sky, before the World War I broke out. Framed zeppelin prints also highlight the military purposes served by these aircrafts, with the first effective raids being conducted over Britain.
At the end of the war, the zeppelin industry took a blow and it took a while for it to recover, especially after the military interdiction regarding large airships was enforced. Zeppelin manufacturers returned to prominence in the second half of the 20s, with two more being produce and the most popular one was the Hindenburg. That was the largest aircraft in the fleet and it also features in framed zeppelin posters, as it took off from Germany to carry people across the Atlantic to New York City. The Hindenburg disaster that occurred in 1937 marked the end of zeppelins and planes started to be used for commercial flights.
